Improving Kane County’s environmental, economic and social sustainability through improvements to its facilities and operations. Kane strives to create an enduring future that promotes quality of life, financial prosperity and innovative ideas and technologies while respecting and protecting natural resources. Our department is a leader and role model in the area of energy conservation, energy efficiency, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and use of renewable resources within Kane County and throughout the region. We foster public awareness, education and support of sustainable practices through the development of livable communities.

Our Climate Action Implementation Plan is ready. Implementation plans are underway - stay tuned by joining the mailing list or better yet be a part of the action and become a member of our Climate Action Implementation Team​​.

In June 2023, Kane County Board approved the adoption of the Climate Action Implementation Plan.


By 2050 Kane County's climate is expected to be​​​

  • 22 more days above 95 degrees annually

  • Have 26 days more growing season

  • Increase in annual precipitation by 2%

  • 24% increase in heavy precipitation​ event

  • 4-5 degrees warmer​​
