<div><b>Description:</b> <div class="ExternalClassEBF76E01ADF44B208F13D66E701E8585"><p style="text-align&#58;justify;"><strong>General Summary&#58; </strong>The Court Security Officer is a sworn position appointed by the Sheriff of Kane County and is primarily charged with attending to the courts on behalf of the Sheriff, and for providing a safe and orderly environment to the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit System's Judges and facilities in Kane County. The Court Security Officer may be assigned at any one of the following Courts&#58; Judicial Center in St. Charles, Juvenile Justice Center in St. Charles, Kane County branch court of St. Charles, Geneva Courthouse in Geneva, the Appellate Court in Elgin, the Elgin branch court and Aurora branch court in Aurora.</p><p style="text-align&#58;justify;">The Court Security Officer will be required to work one of three different shifts&#58; 6&#58;30 am to 2&#58;30 pm, 8&#58;30 am to 4&#58;30 pm, or 12&#58;00 pm to 8&#58;00 pm., which may include weekends and holidays. The Court Security Officer will be responsible for&#58; Screening at the main entrances, building control room operations, maintaining order and security in the courtrooms and other areas of the Court facilities, conducting security sweeps and searches for suspicious and dangerous articles, taking people into custody, and maintaining working familiarity with current policies and procedures relevant to security and decorum of the court. Training will be provided. The Court Security Officer must be able to meet certain physical demands in order to perform the essential functions of this job. The Court Security Officer is regularly required to walk; use legs to climb stairs, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, controls, or tools for the job; use hands and arms to reach, push or pull; talk and hear. The Court Security Officer must also be able to stand for an extended period of time without a significant rest period.</p><p style="text-align&#58;justify;"><strong></strong></p><p style="text-align&#58;justify;"><strong>Requirements&#58; </strong>High School diploma or general education degree (GED); Valid Illinois driver's license; Valid F.O.I.D card; Must be 21 years of age; Must be a United States Citizen; Must have basic computer knowledge; Must successfully pass medical and psychological examinations in order to meet the needs of the Kane County Sheriff's Office, and successful candidates must attend a corrections academy unless currently certified by ILESTB in law enforcement or corrections. <div><b>Description:</b> <div class="ExternalClassE516CE3F1EF04CCC8B58800A9C918DEA"><p><span style="text-decoration&#58;underline;"><strong>POSITION SUMMARY&#58;</strong></span></p><p>The 16<sup>th</sup> Judicial Circuit Court is accepting applications for the position of full-time Court Interpreter- Spanish Language.&#160; Under the supervision of the Office of the Chief Judge and Court Administrator, this position provides interpretation services to Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals involved in court proceedings.</p><p><span style="text-decoration&#58;underline;"><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES&#58;</strong></span></p><ul><li>Effectively and efficiently, perform simultaneous or consecutive interpretation for LEP individuals throughout the entirety of court proceedings.<br></li><li>Ability to provide interpretation services in-person and/or through video remote interpreting; as well as ability to sight translate brief documents (birth/death certificates, text messages, letters) during court proceedings.</li><li>Act in accordance with Language Access Policy and Code of Interpreter Ethics of the Illinois Supreme Court, as well as the Language Access Plan for the 16<sup>th</sup> Judicial Circuit Court.</li><li>Maintain a case log of interpretation services, including case number, title and future proceedings information.</li><li>Actively seek to improve knowledge and interpreting skills in order to advance the interpreter profession and credentials.</li><li>Effectively communicate with justice system partners and co-workers.</li></ul><p><span style="text-decoration&#58;underline;"><strong>POSITION REQUIREMENTS&#58;</strong></span></p><ul><li>High school diploma or GED.<br></li><li>Native-like mastery of English and/or Spanish, and extensive knowledge of legal terminology and court proceedings.</li><li>Registered status on the Illinois Supreme Court Language Interpreter Registry or other State Court Interpreter Registry as recognized by the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts, is preferred.&#160; </li><li>Strong understanding and knowledge of the cultural and dialectical varieties of Spanish and English, including idiomatic expressions, slang and regional colloquialisms.</li><li>Adherence and full understanding of the Illinois Supreme Court Code of Interpreter Ethics.</li><li>Understanding and knowledge of courtroom decorum and behavior during judicial proceedings.<br></li></ul><div><span style="text-decoration&#58;underline;"><strong>BENEFITS&#58;</strong></span><strong>&#160;</strong></div><div><strong><br></strong></div><div>IMRF Pension, Health and Dental Insurance, Paid Vacation and Court Holidays&#160;<br></div><div><strong></strong><br></div><p><span><strong><span style="text-decoration&#58;underline;">​CLOSING DATE&#58;&#160;</span>&#160;</strong></span>Friday, May 1, 2026<br></p></div></div>
